Work is complete on the new helipad and grade car park at the Morriston Hospital in Swansea. This sectional handover has become the first phase handed over for HealthVision Swansea with future phases at various stages in planning and construction.

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has provided the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services and are the ‘Design for Life’ framework partner to BAM Construction on the HealthVision scheme.

The Hospital is part of the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust.

Mike Harris, director, healthcare says “BBES are successfully working with BAM on this and the new build Aneurin Bevan Hospital in Ebbw Vale on the d4L framework, and we are looking forward to developing future works.”

The helipad was put to immediate use, within 30 minutes of the formal handover on the 19th August Air Ambulance flew in to land a patient.

Work now is set to continue with a further multi-storey car park and new building for the main entrance, Integrated Education Centre, retail outlets and Endoscopy.

Well done to Alex Buckley, account manager, Welsh Health Estates and his team for their excellent efforts in achieving this key milestone.
