The Birmingham office has just started work on a £4.7m contract to provide full mechanical and electrical services for a new school under the Liverpool Building Schools for the Future project.

A £27m complex is being built by client Balfour Beatty Construction to allow West Derby Comprehensive School and Ernest Cookson Special School to co-locate and form a Centre for Excellence which will be built on old Millbank playing field which was owned by ultimate client, Liverpool City Council.   The consultant on this project is AECOM.  Technical advice to Liverpool City Council is being provided by 2020 Liverpool Ltd, the Council’s joint venture partnership with Mouchel.

As part of the environmental strategy, BBES will be installing a 500kW biomass boiler which will provide the main heating for the new site.

Completion of this 11-month education contract is planned for August 2010.
