Health and Education has just been awarded a £6.7m contract to design and install mechanical and electrical services for a new Primary Care and Treatment Centre in Birkenhead on the Wirral for Wirral NHS Trust.

A three year project will see some existing facilities demolished and a new building constructed for St Catherine’s Community Health Centre. Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) is responsible for the enabling works, the construction of a new plant room to serve the existing estate and the full M&E services to a brand new 11,000sq m health centre facility.

Five floors including a lower ground floor will provide the local community with services such as women’s health, physiotherapy, mental healthcare, podiatry, imaging and community-based GP services.

IHP is the appointed contractor under the P21 Process headed by Vinci in the Northwest. One Creative Environments architects are responsible for the design of the building and Liam Beaumont is BBES’ project manager.
