Gateacre and Hope School, Liverpool BSF

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has recently been awarded a £5.9m mechanical and electrical services contract by Balfour Beatty Construction for a new school which is a part of Liverpool BSF.  

The new Gateacre and Hope School in Liverpool will replace Gateacre Secondary School and Hope Special School.  The contract will comprise the design, supply and installation of all mechanical and electrical and sprinkler services.

The objective behind the Liverpool BSF scheme is to provide education facilities capable of delivering a 21st century curriculum including ICT networks enabling ‘anywhere anytime’ learning in addition to providing learning resources for the whole community.

The contract, for ultimate client Liverpool City Council, will start in May 2010 and is due for completion in March 2011. Alan Wilkinson is overseeing the project.

An environmentally-friendly biomass boiler is to be installed and the project will also utilise off-site fabrication from Modular Systems +.  Aecom is the consultant on the contract.
