Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) has been appointed by BAM Construction to supply and install electrical services for the redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.

The Regional Business of BBES has been awarded a £1.4m contract to redevelop the Scottish National Portrait Gallery which includes electrical services, external and internal fabric, finishes, fixtures and fittings. The ultimate client is National Galleries of Scotland.

The Grade A listed building, at the heart of the New Town on Queen Street in Edinburgh, was designed by architect Sir Robert Rowand Anderson to be a celebration of the people of Scotland. The gallery houses a remarkable collection of 30,000 works, in a wide variety of media, illustrating the richness of Scotland’s history and culture.

The contract is currently on site and is due for completion in March 2011. Harley Haddow is the consultant on the project.
