Newcastle office is preparing to start work on a £1.3m contract in the London Borough of Merton. Balfour Beatty Engineering Services secured the contract from Mansell to create a two-storey learning centre in Morden.

As a special educational needs (SEN) Centre of Excellence, the new building will provide facilities for pupils with severe learning difficulties from 2-19 years of age and will increase the existing capacity from 90 to 112 places.

Work will start on site in April and is expected to be completed in December of this year for ultimate client, London Borough of Merton. The project involves the design, supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services and a specialist contractor will install a hydrotherapy pool for use by the children at the school.

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services is also currently working with Mansell in the area on Sutton Life Centre. Contracts manager Damian Chandler is leading both projects and said: “Newcastle office has built a great relationship with Mansell over recent years following on from the successful completion of a number of Job Centre projects within the London area with Mansell’s City Road and Croydon offices, and this is a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship further.”
