Projects division is delighted to announce the award of the electrical installation works associated with the two new aircraft carriers currently in design and construction phase at BAE Systems’ Govan facility.
This £15 million contract is for the installation of cables and containment on the modules being constructed at Govan prior to final integration at Rosyth.
The first aircraft carrier, the Queen Elizabeth, is due to enter service in 2016 and at 65,000 tonnes will be three times the size of the UK’s current carriers.
This contract provides operations director Alan McCann and his team the opportunity to continue their relationship with BAE systems following the previous award of the cable routing design for the complete carriers.
It is hoped it will also provide opportunities to carry out other works at the Govan yard and potentially at other locations where the carriers are being constructed.
