Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) recently handed over, on programme, Phase 2 Northampton Mental Health Hospital on 17 May 2010.

This follows the successful handover of phase 1 on the new £35m hospital, which was built on the site of the old St Crispin Hospital and includes 135 en-suite bedrooms with group therapy areas, an academic library and landscaped garden.  There is also an intensive care unit, a low secure unit and two rehabilitation wards in addition to a day hospital specifically for older people.  BBES carried out the M&E services for Balfour Beatty Construction.

The new hospital will also contain an art therapy area, cafe, cashier's office, community team offices, clinical records department and an electroconvulsive therapy suite.
