The Joint Venture team, consisting of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and Balfour Beatty Construction recently achieved a significant milestone as 1,000,000 man hours were worked with over 1,000 days accident-free.

Well done to everyone, including the design team and supply chain partners, for achieving this significant milestone. The team is now setting its goals on achieving 2,000,000 accident-free hours which we anticipate will be reached in the autumn of 2011.

This £137m healthcare project for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust comprises 26,000sq metres of new acute hospital facilities including extensive A&E, critical care and renal departments.  Many high risk activities have been carried out over the course of the project including complex service diversions and the demolition of two 13-storey tower blocks in a confined area.

Keith Slater, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services project manager recently said about the achievement: “We at Balfour Beatty Engineering Services are proud to be part of the team that has achieved 1,000,000 site hours without a reportable accident. In reaching the milestone it certainly proves that the principles of Zero Harm are being embraced by all involved at the Salford Royal PFI Project.”
