We are delighted to announce that phase two of the £580m Birmingham super hospital was handed over during September 2010.

The BNHJV team has successfully handed over the second phase of the Birmingham Hospital project on 16 September 2010, on programme. In addition the team has completed Phase 3B, some six months ahead of schedule, which has been mothballed.

This £230m M&E flagship project is almost complete with the final phases handing over in the middle of 2011.

The 1,200-bed hospital will serve as a major trauma centre for the West Midlands and as a centre of excellence for burns, cancer and transplantation. The hospital will also be the primary treatment receiving centre for Britain’s injured military personnel.

This £580m joint venture with Balfour Beatty Construction has been a massive success for the Group and is a significant achievement for Peter Spearing, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services project director and the team at BNHJV.

Congratulations to Peter and his team!
