Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) has been awarded the £2.4m mechanical and electrical services contract at the new build University of Manchester SCEAS building (School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science). This is a further award with Galliford Try, following the order for Orford Park earlier this year.
Building Services North will carry out the design, supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services for this new-build five-storey laboratory and pilot plant building.
Galliford Try Construction is our client and University of Manchester is our ultimate client for this project.
Sustainable aspects to this project include ground source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting.
Innovative solutions that we will carry out on this project include the use of prefabricated services modules and skid-mounted packaged plant items.
Contracts manager Gabriel Bennett will oversee our works on the project, supported by project manager Steve Scholes. The project is due for completion in autumn 2011.
