Great Ormond Street Hospital Completed

Work was completed recently on a 15-week project to replace two air cooled water chillers at world-famous children’s hospital Great Ormond Street.

With most of the works taking place on the roof of the building in extreme weather conditions the project proved to be quite a challenge.

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services worked with principal contractor Mansell on the project with the mechanical works valued at £425,000.

Throughout the contract all the key project milestones were successfully achieved including complicated plant deliveries which involved major crane operations requiring road closures for the removal of existing chillers and installation of the new chillers and pipe work.

Great care was taken to minimise disruption to the client with Great Ormond Street Hospital commenting they had hardly known Balfour Beatty Engineering Services had been there.

Well done to Lee Dover (project manager), Larry Nicholas (construction manager) and the BBES team on achieving this successful milestone.
