Building Services North, Leeds office has been awarded a contract to refurbish the five-storey office block George Stephenson House in York.
The 10,000m2 building is occupied by Network Rail, who has commissioned the refurbishment works.
BBES will carry out the design, supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services, comprising heating, chilled water, ventilation, domestic services, public health, lighting, power, fire alarms and building management systems.
Innovation opportunities currently being reviewed on this project by BBES include prefabricated gas mains, plant skids, plug and play lighting.
BBES sustainable aspects on this project include promotion of the park and ride facility into the city, and during the strip-out works BBES will be looking to remove, recycle and re-use a large proportion of the existing services, in particular electrical containment.
Russell Horner is the operations manager responsible for this project, supported by project manager John Heppenstall. ISG Regions is our client.
Works will start on site in February, and will be completed in phases by the end of 2011.
