Works are progressing well on the SSL Package 1B Metropolitan Line.

Power Systems, Traction is now two years into a threeyear contract to upgrade the power supplies for London Underground on the Metropolitan Line and works are progressing well. Site installation works are substantially underway on 10 of the 11 substations with the last one, Alperton, due to start installation on 4 July 2011. 50% of the new DC switchboards have now been installed and commissioned into service, which is a major project milestone, as BBES has to manage the interface with the operational railway.

The delivery and installation of the transformer rectifier at Croxleyhall presented the project team with some logistical challenges that were successfully overcome with the installation smoothly completed without issue.

All 11kV cable routes are installed and jointed to programme and highway route works for Neasden to Alperton Feeder F312 have been completed. 5km of the Neasden to Alperton Feeder F316 cable route which is installed in the highway route is complete.

In recognition of the excellent work carried out by the project team, BBES has been awarded additional works in excess of £2m for further cable installation works and three extra transformer rooms.

Congratulations to operations manager Mike Nutbrown and the team who are working to complete the project on time and within budget.
