
Warrington office is providing £3m mechanical and electrical services to the new build Brownhills Academy School, Stoke-on-Trent, a centre of excellence for maths, computing and business.
Balfour Beatty Engineering Services is working with Balfour Beatty Construction to deliver this Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Wave 2 scheme.
The building will be a mix of two and three-storey’s, providing state-of-the-art learning facilities for 1,200 pupils. Staff and students continue to be involved in the planning of the building to ensure it will fully meets their requirements.
The M&E services provided by BBES will comprise the design, supply and installation of all mechanical, electrical, specialist systems such as ICT, ELV systems and sprinklers.
Sustainability aspects to be implemented on this project include local spend and employment strategies, provision of mentoring and training. BBES will also manage its own waste disposal with a strong focus on reduction in waste to and from site. The project will also have PV and solar heating systems.
The project programme will benefit from the use of modular wiring, pre-manufactured brackets, and plant skids.
Mark Beardmore is managing BBES’ operations on this project and the delivery will be led by Graeme Miller and his team. Works started in August, and are programmed for completion summer 2012.
