Building Services North has been awarded a £1.9m mechanical and electrical services contract as part of the Hull Academies Framework.
Ali Homatash is overseeing the complete multi-service design supply and installation for Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES). The client is Balfour Beatty Construction and the ultimate client is Kingston upon Hull City Council. The project bases itself around a heavily ITC loaded school with a part natural/mechanical ventilation solution, supported by biomass heating plant.
Through the Academies Framework programme, Hull is currently transforming learning in the city and is building new and remodeled secondary, special education needs (SEN) and primary schools across the city to help radically change the way education is delivered. BBES is currently involved with Sirius and Ganton Academy and the new Kelvin Hall School.
The West Hull Primary Learning Village will be home to four separate educational centres, ranging from the Ganton SEN primary to a day-care centre for children, all of which have a direct link to the Sirius and Ganton Academy.
The aim is to build new schools to create ‘learning villages’ at the heart of Hull’s communities so every child and family has access to year-round extended childcare, parenting support, after-school activities and access to state-of-the-art ICT, sports and arts facilities.
The BBES contract starts in October and is due to finish in August 2012.
