Building Services South has been awarded two academy projects totaling £6.6m within the Partnerships for Schools (PfS) Contractors’ Framework, recognising the skills and expertise Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) has in delivering framework projects with a variety of customers.
BBES will supply and install M&E services for Hampton and Twickenham Academies, which are being constructed by the Leadbitter Group on behalf of the London Borough of Richmond.
BBES was selected by Leadbitter based on our experience in the delivery of schools and academies in partnership Balfour Beatty Construction Limited.
Twickenham Academy in the London Borough of Richmond has been awarded in a two project scheme.
The Academy is a new build, sports and digital media specialism constructed in three phases, replacing the existing academy. Phase 1 is the Academy, phase 2 is the sports hall and phase 3 the multi-use games areas.
Hampton Academy is a specialist in science and performing arts. The installations within this mix of refurbishment and new build are traditional with the only elements of variety featuring the solar PV system which is to be installed as part of the works.
Sustainability aspects on these projects include rainwater harvesting, and modularisation will feature heavily on the projects to promote the benefits BBES can bring to this new client base.
Works have started on both academies and will be completed by mid 2014.
