Building Services North has been awarded the £1.3m M&E contract for the fit out of a new Marks & Spencer retail store in Sheffield.

Works are being carried out working with main contractor Simons Group Ltd for Marks & Spencer, Troup Bywaters & Anders are providing M&E consultancy.

The new store will be located within the Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre in Sheffield.

The 56,000 sq ft store is due to open mid-2012 and will sell food, clothing, homeware and gifts and include an M&S Café.

The sustainable aspects supporting Marks & Spencer in Plan A are a new lighting controls system, displacement columns, engaging local labour, reduced waste, local suppliers, off-site prefabrication of distribution boards and brackets.

A modular packaged boiler house, packaged water tank room will be installed on the project.

Nick McAloon will manage the works for BBES, supported by contract manager Andy Stewart. Works will start in February 2012.

This is the eighth Marks & Spencer award this year. .
