Projects division has been awarded the contract for the supply, installation and testing of all electrical and instrumentation systems on Centrica’s new platform.

The £1m contract awarded by Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) includes the supply, installation and testing of all the electrical and instrumentation works for an off-shore gas platform which forms part of the York Field Development Project.

The ultimate client Centrica, contracted with HFG for the construction of the platform and potentially three other platforms.

The platform which is being built at HFG’s yard in Hartlepool consists of five levels including a helicopter deck, weather deck, mezzanine level and two cellar decks.

The project is being constructed to very high standards due to the nature of the facility and its operating location and started on 7 November 2011 with completion scheduled for March 2012.  The platform is due to sail out to its final location in the North Sea in April/May depending on sea and weather conditions.
