As part of a Balfour Beatty JV, BBES has been awarded a
contract to provide major modifications to Blackfriars Station, which
includes the strengthening and widening of Blackfriars railway-bridge
and major improvements to the new underground system.

Works include extending the mainline station platforms across the full length of the existing bridge in addition to alterations to the mainline track layout. The existing station roof will be demolished and replaced to cover the new station layout. The existing bridge decking will be strengthened and widened and a new ticket hall will be constructed on the south bank allowing access to the station from both north and south of the river. The existing north bank LUL and NR ticket halls will be combined and a new entrance, ticket hall and concourse will be created.
