Contract Arrangement: Joint Venture with Balfour Beatty Rail Projects. Electrical and mechanical services comprising: Systems design, installation and commissioning to the Heathrow Express and Piccadilly Line rail tunnel extensions to Terminal 5, the Rail T5 Rail Station and the Track Transit System (TTS) between the terminals.

The T5 team are responsible for the M&E delivery of key elements of the T5 infrastructure.

Rail Station (M&E c.£25 million)

The  6  platform Station positioned directly below T5 is the main passenger interchange  for  Heathrow  Express  and  Piccadilly  line  rail  passenger  arriving  or  departing  T5. We were responsible for the design, supply, installation  and  testing/commissioning  of the building services. As part of BAA’s design aspirations for T5 our design team have realised 50% modularisation of the M&E services.

Rail Systems (M&E c.£40 millon)

Rail  Systems  encompasses the E&M fit out of 2 x twin bored tunnels (total length 6.5km),  cut/cover  sections, cross passages, shafts and the tunnel ventilation  system. We were responsible  for  the design, supply, installation and testing/commissioning of the M&E infrastructure, ventilation system and building services.

Track Transit System ­ TTS (M&E c.£26 million)

The  track  transit system is the Automated People Mover (APM) which will operate  between the T5  main terminal  building  and  the 2 satellite buildings. We were responsible  for the design, supply, installation and  testing/commissioning of the building services to the stations,  tunnels, and passenger walkways maintenance facilities and the tunnel ventilation system.
