Diamond Light Synchrotron

Location: Harwell Chilton Campus, Didcot, England
Client: Diamond Light Source, Limited
Value: £2,500,000
Construction Period: 11 Months
Year Completed: 2005

The Synchrotron is a donut shaped microscope the size of several football fields.  Within this electrons are accelerated to nearly light speed.  As the electrons circle the storage ring they lose energy, which emerges as very bright, highly focused light enabling scientists to view the composition of materials on a minute scale.

Our scope of work includes the installation of low EMC electrical and instrumentation services to beamline machine and multi-discipline construction for several laboratories. The scope of the laboratories included high accuracy air conditioning systems, piped services, structural and civil services and electrical and instrumentation services.
